Expected starting date: January - October 2018
Job description of the Project ERICA:
The job is a full time position for early stage researchers (ESRs) in the field of “Engineered Calcium-Silicate-Hydrates for Applications” (ERICA), with a transformative materials science approach, based on gaining detailed understanding of the associated nanoscience. ERICA seeks coherent understanding and control of hydrate nucleation and growth as a means of controlling the properties of cement. ERICA trains 13 multi-disciplinary researchers (PhD students): two to be trained at the University of Bologna, one at the Department DIFA and one at the Department DICAM.
Selected ESRs are expected to be enrolled in a PhD programme and submit the thesis within their period of employment. Training activities involve PhD courses, participation in seminars/workshops/conferences. Research training will include secondments at the institutions of other ERICA’s partners.
The aims of the two PhD projects at the University of Bologna are as follows:
- (ESR2) 1H NMR relaxation characterisation of hydrates.
- (ESR4) 1H NMR characterisation of first sorption cycle.
Job duration: 36 months
Main research field: Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Engineering, Engineering
